Day One - Depart the USA on your special trip to Cape Town and the Winelands
of South Africa
Day Two – Cape Town
You are met at Cape Town airport by our representative and handed your travel
documents. You will then be transferred to The Cape Cadogan.
The Cape Cadogan is a stately double-storey Georgian and Victorian building that
dates back to the start of the 19th century. It was originally a farmhouse which
was ‘Victorianised’ in 1912 and declared a national monument in 1984. This boutique
hotel is well known for its comfortable, luxurious atmosphere. Our reception areas
are individually decorated and designed for comfort and tranquility. It is themed
on the Irish literary figure Oscar Wilde who was renowned for his bohemian lifestyle
throughout Europe and New York during the latter part of the 19th century. The
public areas comprise a comfortable lounge with an open fireplace, a garden and
pool area, and a library where you can relax and read or research your itinerary
from the computer terminal provided for your convenience. Bohemian chic is our
hallmark, with 12 luxuriously appointed en suite bedrooms that are decorated with
an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furniture using dramatic fabrics to
maximum effect.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or you can make your way to the lower
cable station where you will ride the cable car up Table Mountain (weather permitting)
to enjoy the view over Cape Town and across Table Bay to Robben Island (R160).

You will be collected from Cape Cadogan for your Cultural Field Trip. You will
visit a minimum of 3 projects during your trip. Uthando South Africa ( Love )
South Africa is a non-profit organisation while also being a truly unique Responsible
Tourism Initiative based in Cape Town, South Africa. The mission of Uthando South
Africa is to provide a platform and infrastructure to raise funds from individuals,
groups and organisations who have an interest in the region. The money generated
supports a broad range of grass roots, community based, sustainable, innovative
and empowerment projects with substantial and enduring value to the most destitute
and marginalized communities in South Africa. In addition Uthando aims to provide
tourists with an authentic introduction to the social problems confronting so
many South Africans, and the innovative and truly inspirational ways in which
these problems are being handled.
After your Uthando Trip you can explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
The hotel reception will call a taxi for you. The Waterfront is Southern Africa’s
trendiest shopping precinct and is a great place to look for gifts. Visit the
Waterfront’s Two Oceans Aquarium, which is highly recommended for the insight
it gives into life in the two oceans off the southern tip of Africa – the cold
Atlantic Ocean and the warm Indian Ocean. Alternatively, you may like to relax
on one of the trendy beaches of Camps Bay or Clifton. Museum lovers can wander
through the South African Museum and the National Art Gallery. Tonight you may
like to try one of the fine quayside restaurants at the Waterfront.

Point. You travel along the Atlantic seaboard via glamorous Clifton to the quaint
seaside village of Hout Bay. Here you can take a boat ride from the fishing harbour

Continue via the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point. Looking at this dramatic
promontory jutting into the sea gives one an idea why early sailors nicknamed
it the Cape of Storms. You then follow the coastline northwards via Simonstown,
where you can visit the penguin colony of Boulders Beach. A leisurely drive through
the leafy southern suburbs will bring you back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
OR
You can take a ferry from the Waterfront across Table Bay to Robben Island. An
